어제.. 저녁 식사시간 즈음에 방송된 프로그램.. 방송사도 프로그램명도 모르겠다.
요즘은 선행학습이라고 부르는 모양이다.
초등학교 6학년 머슴아가가 새벽밥을 먹고 책상에 앉아 공부를 시작하네.
그리고 나서 학원으로 고고씽하여 (참고로 지금은 방학이란다.)
학원쌤하고 독대하여 수학공부를 하더라.
일단 요즘 일반 학원은 수강생을 한명만도 받아주나? 하는 의문이 들었다.
일종의 과외처럼.. 웃돈을 더 줘서 1인 수강도 가능한가?.. 합법이겠지? 잠깐 생각하다가
지금 공부하는 과정을 듣고 깜짝 놀라서 다시 시청자의 입장으로 돌아갔다.
그 머슴아가는 이미 중학교 1,2,3 학년 수학과정을 다 선행학습했는데
이미 고등과정의 이론도 설명하면 이해하는 수준이 되어
지금 당장 고등학교 과정으로 올라가도 수업 진행하는데 아무런 무리가 없다.. 면서
학원쌤이 자랑을 하시더이다.
수학이 재미있냐고 리포터가 물었나?
그 머슴아가의 대답이..
공을 던져도 포물선 곡선의 형상이 나오므로 2차 방정식을 아는 것이 생활에 밀접한 관련이 있단다.
라고 말한걸로 기억된다.
사실 이 답은 내 기억속에서 크게 왜곡되었을 가능성이 있다.
그 친구의 대답이 하도 기가 막혀서 내가 슬쩍 듣고 저렇게 이해했을 수도 있다.
여하튼 내가 아는 초등학교 6학년 머슴아가가 가능한 답변과는

We are on a vacation.
We have a continuous fifteen days leave for winter vacation.
The winter vacation is usually started from the middle of December.
Our boss give us winter vacation instead of summer vacation.
That's why our major client (USFK) have a winter vacation traditionally so most of projects are completed before Christmas season.
We went to paris two years ago, went to Cheju island last year, and came here in this year.
We greeted the New year in the airplane for two consecutive years after getting married.
Actually we had a different plan for this winter vacation.
We deceided to go to warm place to enjoy our holidays.
Hawaii or the Philipines was a strong cadidate but we should have postponed our plan due to my pregnancy.
Anyway we came my hometown as soon as our vacation was started with my sister.
It's already forth day we staied in Yeo-Su and we are in the library of Cheon nam national University Yeo Su Campus.
My house is only a little way from here. This library is my father's favorate place to study.
After retiring, he goes to libary to study something.
Young wan and me went here to take a walk and meet my father and sister and ate lunch togher.
So my father and sister is studing in the reading room in this library now and we are studing in the rest room because I am using a notebook.
Anyway we will try to study English without skipping during this winter vacaion.

As you know the draw for the round of thirty two for the world cup would be held in the Republic of South Africa in 2010 was made a few weeks ago.
Korea was included in group B with Argentina, Greece, Nigeria and the group B was said to be easy to go to the round of sixteen.
I wonder your opinion about that.
Do you think Korea can advance to the round of sixteen ?
Soccer team of Argentina is famous for gor-geous techniques of indviduals. Even a mere child knows that the team is one of

I still remember when the Greece won the Uro-2004. The team was really great. Word says it that Greece is not strong like before. But I don't think the team of Greece is easy to match and the team is still superior to Korean soccer team.
An old eagle is better than a young crow.

Time flies like an arrow.
This is 50th times already. I can't believe that.
We skipped often this talk recently.
We were sometimes too busy or tometimes too tired to prepare this talk.
I know that was just an excuse.

When we decided to start studing English by talking and recording like this, I felt ashamed to hear my voice.
And many people took an interest in this min. 5 min talk.
So, I was concerned whether we could study English without skipping and also felt a kind of responsibilities at the same time. It was a really special experience.
And we got a good chance to meet a popular person, Mr. Sun because of this talk.
I was stimulated by his life full of variety.
He became one of our role models.
I am not sure our English has been getting improved but I am sure we already got manythings through this talk.

What do you think about the merits of this method we chose ?
I think it is really good training to listen my prononciation and intonation through recorded files objectively.
I realized that the velocity of my saying was very slow and I stumbled a lot than I thought.
Also, I found that I like to use "Um" between the lines uselessly.
Sometimes, this bad habit often became an obstacle to continue our conversation.
Of course my prononciation is still terrible and I feel difficulties to find where I have to breathe in the sentence.
Anyway I believe this way to stduy English is a quite good practice to speak English better.

Do you think our English has been getting better?
As I told you, I am not sure.
We need more time to get a visible result.
Let's talk about this at the 200th talk again.

What is something you do worse than other people ?
We have talked about something you do better than other people.
So, it is important to know our own weaknesses as well as to know our own strength.
I am poor at arithmetic.
That is my biggest weakness.
I am always confused at adding, subtracting, multipling and dividing.
I feel diffficulties to read numbers over one million won.
Whenever I read numbers, I have to count the number of zero.
It takes long time and I am like an amature even if I am an engineer.
To convert won into dollars is really hard thing for me, vice versa.




What kind of efforts are you making to cover your demerits ?
